Chocolate Cake

Try this amazingly delicious chocolate cake with your chocolate buttercream frosting.

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. ½ cup of shortening
  3. 1½ cups of sugar
  4. 1 cup buttermilk, shaken
  5. 1 tsp baking powder
  6. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  7. ½ tsp baking soda
  8. ½ cup cocoa powder
  9. 2 eggs
  10. ½ tsp salt
  11. 2 ounces of unsweetened chocolate, melted

Directions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in stainless-steel bowl, add shortening, milk, and vanilla extract
  2. Attach flat beater to the Ventray Stand Mixer, start mixing at speed 1, then increase to speed 2, mix for 1 minute
  3. Scrap the bowl, add in eggs, chocolate, continue at speed 3 mix for about 30 seconds,
  4. Turn to speed 4, beat for about 1 minute or until completely smooth and evenly mixed

Oven Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350°F
  2. Pour batter into two greased and floured 8 by 9-inch round baking pans
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes, test with toothpick
